Trying to plan events while in the middle of a complex railway trip has not been easy, but now I am happy to announce the events during the South East circuit of the project, starting 19th July. Please note in particular the changes on 20 July – with the Wien event now late afternoon!

If you would like to write or film something about the project then please do get in touch – each of these events also offers the opportunity for interviews or photos!

Day 27, Tuesday 19 July – 12:30-14:00 – Formal – ISFC, Prague Creative Center, Staroměstské náměstí 1, 110 00 Praha 1 – Staré Město (map)
Thank you ISFC for hosting this one! I will be presenting the conclusions of the project so far (there will be plenty of photos and stories from the borders), and lunch will be served. Please make sure you sign up if you want to come along to this one – so we have an idea of numbers.

Day 28, Wednesday 20 July – 11:30-13:00 – Informal – early lunch near Budapest Keleti, exact location tbc
I still do not have the location for this yet, but I will have time for lunch in Budapest on 20 July. Contact me if you want to say hello!

Day 28, Wednesday 20 July – 17:00-18:30 – Informal – first at Wien Hbf, and from 17:30 onwards at Campus Bräu, Wiedner Gürtel 1, 1100 Wien, Austria (map)
Due to the ongoing political crises in Europe, this one proved complex to organise, and was indeed re-planned multiple times! Between 17:00 and 17:15 I will organise a brief photo opportunity at Wien Hbf with Austrian Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler, and then from about 17:30 until 19:30 I will be at Campus Bräu nearby for an informal meeting with activists and journalists to discuss the #CrossBorderRail project over a beer. If you would like to know exactly where the photo will be, please sign up.

Day 29, Thursday 21 July – all day – meet me along the cycle route Bad Radkersburg (AT) – Gorna Radgona (SI) – Redics (HU) – Lendava (SI) – Cakovec (HR)
I will be cycling more than 80km on Day 29, but with a very relaxed schedule – if you live somewhere along that route and would have time to tell me about the history of the region, do let me know – I would be happy to say hello!

Day 33, Monday 25 July – 19:00-21:00 – Informal (dinner) – Sofia, will be walking distance from National Palace of Culture
The exact restaurant has not yet been decided, but there will be a dinner in Sofia – somewhere near the National Palace of Culture. Sign up if you would like to come along, and you will be sent the exact address by email!

Day 34, Tuesday 26 July – 20:30-22:30 – Informal (dinner) – Restaurant Elias 1958, Mpousgou 2, Athina 114 73 (map)
This one is quite late in the evening due to my complex timetable to get to Athens – it will be a meeting of green and transport activists over dinner, in a relaxed restaurant. It would be good if you could sign up so as we know likely numbers!

Day 35, Wednesday 27 July – 13:30-15:00 – Informal (lunch) – Restaurant Kanoula, Taskou Papageorgiou 4, Thessaloniki 546 31 (map)
Similar to the previous day, this will be a meeting of green and transport activists over lunch, in a relaxed restaurant. It would be good if you could sign up so as we know likely numbers!

Day 37, Friday 29 July – 19:00-21:00 – Informal (drinks, dinner) – J’ai Bistrot, Calea Griviței 55, București 010704 (map)
I am so looking forward to this – I have always had fun times in Bucharest, and it is going to be good to be back – albeit briefly. Call by for a beer or for dinner or both, and good conversation, before I then depart on the night train towards Hungary later.

Day 38, Sat 30 July – 19:00-21:00 – Informal (dinner) – Café in Hotel Europa, Jiřího Wolkera 1, 058 01 Poprad (map)
A meeting with consumer rights activists over dinner in Poprad in an appropriately named hotel! It would be good if you could sign up so as we know likely numbers!

Day 40, Mon 1 August – 08:00-09:45 – Bike ride Bratislava-Wolfsthal-Bratislava
Due to a timetable mess in Poland, this bike ride was postponed.

The full schedule of the project can be found in this Google Sheet. I am open to other suggestions to meet on route, or indeed for people to come along on some of the trains. Do contact me!
