The first day of the second circuit will start on the Berlin-Offenburg ICE. In Offenburg I will transfer onto the local Offenburg-Strasbourg train – the border at Kehl has reasonable local and long distance services, but it does not all work as it should – the local trains are diesel despite the line being electrified, and the ticketing for trains here is more complex than it should be. Some of the connections here are tight too, so I might end up stuck somewhere – and arriving later than planned in Lyon. From Strasbourg it is a TGV onwards to Lyon, but because this one does not serve Paris it potters its way through eastern France, via Mulhouse and Dijon.
In Lyon I will attend the EU Connecting Europe Days event.
